Group Classes
I teach a dynamic breath centered practice utilizing techniques to aid in increasing concentration, relaxation and purification.
Group classes provide a supportive environment where needs are addressed based on the level of experience of those in attendance.
Beginners will learn the basics of breathing and physical techniques to facilitate a connection between the moving body and breath.
Alignment instruction, breath ratios, and philosophy are interjected throughout all classes as dictated by the student's physique,
injuries, health issues, and goals. Practicing in a noncompetitive and mindful way the diligent yogi may begin to discover a
new contentedness and how to better care for themselves on and off the mat. Whatever your goal; a consistent yoga practice
will increase your mental focus, overall strength, tone, and flexibility, deepen your ability to relax, give you the tools
to aid in the recovery of addiction, injuries, and health issues, and possibly help you to make decisions by learning to
reflect without attachment or judgment.
"You are as young as your spine is flexible, your hormones are active, and your nervous system is strong."
- Dharma Singh Khalsa, M.D.
Private Instruction
Private instruction is the best way to learn the practices of yoga to directly suit your needs. Many approaches are possible
to help find the shift you are looking for. I can meet with you as often as you like to teach you a one-on-one yoga lesson or
a semi-private lesson with friends and family. If you prefer I will consult with you and design a practice that I will teach
to you with written instructions and that you can practice on your own. We will then schedule follow up appointments to adjust
and maintain your practice as needed.
Retreats
Yoga retreats are a great opportunity to slow down, have some fun, and cultivate a shift in how we care for ourselves.
Due to tragedy, health issues or just the average busy life we may become accustomed to unhealthy patterns including
carrying an overabundance of stress. Understandably reducing stress is much easier in a beautiful remote location,
but it is my goal to share techniques you can use at home in your daily routine. During a retreat you may discover
your hidden surfer, find a deep relaxing breath as you sack out in a hammock, feel your back pain begin to let go or
finally read a novel. Regardless of how you decide to use your yoga vacation with two unhurried yoga classes per day
delicious healthy food and a willingness for adventure you are sure to learn something. I always do!
I started leading retreats bi-annually in 2001. Retreat facilities are generally comfortably modest and non-commercial.
You are entitled but not obligated to attend all the yoga classes and events offered. A typical retreat includes private
or shared room choices, two yoga classes per day, three meals per day and some sort of beautiful mountain to climb and
water to swim in.
"Whenever humanity seems condemned to heaviness... I have to change my approach, look at the world from a different
perspective, with a different logic and with fresh methods of cognition and verification."
